The members of the country supergroup Alabama have announced a tour to celebrate their 40 years in the country music business. The Back to the Bowery Tour will kick off on April 5 in South Carolina and run through Oct. 12 before wrapping up in Oklahoma.

The tour commemorates the 40th anniversary of Alabama's very first public performance, which took place at a club called the Bowery in Myrtle Beach, SC. The group have enjoyed an enormously successful career since, placing 34 No. 1 hit singles including ‘Tennessee River,’ ‘Mountain Music,’ ‘High Cotton’ and their recent collaboration with Brad Paisley, ‘Old Alabama.’ Their commercial blend of country, gospel, southern rock and pop has influenced many of today's top artists.

The 2013 Back to the Bowery Tour constitutes Alabama's first extended run of shows since 2002, and to mark the special occasion, the group have chosen to perform in smaller, more intimate venues.

"I'm so excited to celebrate 40 years since our first show at the Bowery," Alabama front man Randy Owen says in a press release. "We still love one another, have played music together all these years, and are blessed to still be around. Most importantly, we are ever grateful for the fans, many having been with us since we used to play for tips, so to be able to go back out and play for them will make this a very special year."
