René Alvarado is well known in the art world and was the 2009 Texas State Artist of the year. Alvarado is known for his ability to merge elements of his past and present seamlessly, while frequently challenging himself and reinventing his craft to suit his vision of the world as it shifts and changes. His studio and gallery, therefore, are always evolving and changing to reflect his most recent creative revelation, so even those who have visited the space will have plenty to see. The entire space has a perfect blend of modern twists and traditional elements. The charm of this converted 1920s church building comes from the high, arched ceilings, beautiful doors and original hardwood. His home was even featured in Home and Remodeling Trends magazine for the quality of the renovation.
