AMARILLO, Texas (AP) — A former Texas Panhandle man has pleaded guilty in a failed $1 million insurance plot to kill the estranged husband of a woman he wanted to marry.

Prosecutors say 21-year-old Randy Exavier Greene, formerly of Stratford, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Amarillo to conspiracy to use an interstate commerce facility in commission of murder-for-hire.

Greene planned to marry 31-year-old Brandi Nicole Blanco of Dalhart. She earlier pleaded guilty to the same count. Both face up to five-year prison terms.

Prosecutors say Blanco was still married when she and Greene got engaged and moved to Florida in January. Investigators say the pair used a cellphone to call Texas to try to solicit a man to kill Blanco's husband, to collect a $1 million life insurance policy.

The man contacted Dalhart police.
